Most traditional Document Management systems assign a unique ID to each file as it is saved or uploaded. MacroView Unique Document Numbering provides this functionality for SharePoint-based document stores.

  • Assigns the next available Document Number to each file as it is saved or uploaded to any document library in the Site Collection. This number is unique across all document libraries in a Site Collection. View a demo of this feature
  • Can also be configured to be unique across all libraries in a Web Application.
  • Automatically extends document libraries with metadata columns to record unique Document IDs.
  • Consistent operation regardless of how files are saved – e.g. via MacroView DMF or via web browser.
  • Optional Prefix can be configured – e.g. to identify documents from different Server Farms.
  • Also records a Document Reference, by default a concatenation of Doc ID + Version No + Library Title – ideal for display in the footer of documents.
  • Unique Doc ID and Doc Ref both available in Office documents that are opened from SharePoint.
  • MacroView DMF preserves Document IDs as it moves files between document libraries.
  • Can be licensed separately or as part of the MacroView DMF Professional Legal Pack.
