SharePoint 2007 supports document-level security, but only for users with Design or Administrator roles. MacroView Enhanced Document Level Security allows Contributor level users to set document level security easily. MacroView Enhanced Document Level Security also makes it easy to set Legal Holds on documents.
- User simply checks a Yes/No metadata field as the document is saved to SharePoint.
- MacroView Enhanced Document Level Security will remove access for all users except the current user and a nominated Author.
- Author is a Person / Group field – can be multi-valued (multiple users) or a Group.
- Checking ‘Legal Hold’ Yes/No metadata field makes document Read-Only to all but a nominated Document Managers group.
- Consistent operation regardless of how files are saved – e.g. via MacroView DMF or via web browser.
- Works for Contributor-level users.
- Much quicker and more convenient than using Manage Permissions in the SharePoint web browser UI.
